Lost and Found | Luke 15:11-32

This morning we begin our five week series with the Ruling Elders preaching. This morning Jay Nelson is going to be looking at Luke 15:11-32. In the passage before us today, we will hear one of the most well known parables taught by Jesus, known as the Parable of the Prodigal Son. We will see that it is a rich and wonderful expression of the Gospel, describing the heart of the God who saves us.

The Coming of the King John 12:1-19

Today in Worship
– This morning we have the privilege to have Jay Nelson preaching.  Jay is a Ruling Elder at Cornerstone and has been a pastor previously.  Jay will be opening John 12:1-19 this morning.  We celebrate the Triumphal Entry that Jesus made into Jerusalem, only days before His death on the cross. His coming was misunderstood by those who witnessed it on that day, and it is still misunderstood by many in our day.

2 Timothy 4:1-22 - A Gospel Perspective

In this sermon, Jay Nelson looks at the last written words of the Apostle Paul to his son in the Christian faith, Timothy, in 2 Timothy 4. Although Paul knows that his life is nearing its end, we will see that the good news of Jesus Christ dominates Paul's thinking, giving him a perspective for future generations, eternity, as well as the last days that he has upon the earth. This wonderful perspective is something that all who love the Gospel may share in.

Galatians 6:11-15 - The Cross of Christ

We hear the concluding words of the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Galatians, paying special attention to his summary statement concerning the cross of Jesus Christ, and how the lives of Christians should be affected by it.

We welcome this morning Jay Nelson to our pulpit as Chris is out of town. Jay, his wife Vicki, and their children Megan and Joel came to Cornerstone in 2002, and Jay has served as a ruling elder on the Session since 2004.

Psalm 115:1-18

In this message, we look at Psalm 115, an exhortation for the people of God to worship Him as He truly is, in comparison to the many false gods that fill our culture. We will focus upon an attribute of God that is central to who He is, yet infrequently discussed in Christian circles today, namely His sovereignty.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5 - A Christian Focus

In this sermon we examine how the Apostle Paul described his arrival in the city of Corinth, focused on his mission of proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. A gospel focus was essential in Corinth, a city filled with distractions, and it remains essential for the Church today, living in an age of religious fads and empty gospels.
