Colossians 1:1-8 - Christmas Past, Present, and Future

In this sermon, Rev. Chris Vogel begins our Advent series. This season we will look at Colossians 1 as we consider the incarnation of Jesus Christ. John 10:22-42 - What is Your Status?

All We Like Sheep - John 10:1-21

In this message,our context has us revisiting the scene of John 9 where the Jews and Jesus are discussing the healing of the blind man. Now, in John 10, Jesus makes deliberate claims to be the Door of the Sheep and the Shepherd himself. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, lays down His life for His sheep, who will know Him. The confusion is evident among the crowd, but Jesus’ mission is clear, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Revelation 2:1-7 - The Dozer or the Tree

In the early parts of the book of Revelation we find 7 letters from Jesus to 7 first century churches in Asia Minor. These letters offer us insights into what Jesus finds to be so critical in the life of his people as they stand as witnesses in the midst of a pagan culture. Revelation 2:1-7 is the first of these letters, and Jesus takes on an issue so critical that if it isn’t remedied, the church risks being totally shut down: the issue of love.

James 1:18-27 - Worthwhile Religion

In this sermon, Rev. Ben Sinnard looks at James' epistle which is like a diagnostic check, evaluating what's going on inside the believer. How is the gospel expressing itself in your life? As the gospel takes deeper and deeper roots within it blossoms more and more on the outside with how we live and what we pursue. James 1:18-27 shows us that through the saving grace of Jesus Christ's life, death and resurrection, we are called to pursues worthwhile righteousness, worthwhile obedience, and worthwhile religion. We do not pursue these to earn God's favor or salvation, but rather because we are enamored with the grace extended to us through the Gospel.

John 8:48-59 - From Insults to Belief

In this sermon, Rev. Chris Vogel looks at John 8:48-59 where we come to the conclusion of Jesus’ Temple Discourse. During the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus has disputed with the religious leaders and the crowds, and in our passage it comes to a head as Jesus once again clearly states that He is God. Jesus’ great I Am that is more than a theological statement of deity, but a call for us to take into account the degree to which we treasure Him in His Word.

John 8:39-47 - Family Resemblance

In this sermon, Rev. Ben Sinnard continues the discourse around Abraham as the “Jews” and Jesus develop their arguments. In John 8:39-47 the Jews rely upon their family tree with Abraham and their spiritual legacy as the “people of God” to give them standing before Jesus. But Jesus' response is deafening that neither Abraham nor God is their father, but rather the Devil, which is evidenced by their lack of hearing, love, and truth. Our only credentials and hope is in Jesus Christ, the one sent from the Father to rescue His people from bondage.

John 8:31-38 - Free At Last

John 8:21-30 - Deliver Us From Confusion

In this sermon, Rev. Chris Vogel continues in John 8:21-30 as Jesus confronts the religious leaders’ unbelief. Jesus. The offer of the gospel, of new life, and of sins forgiven is placed before people. What is then required is trust in Christ. The convincing proof Jesus offers that He has come from God the Father is His death and resurrection. John 7:40-52 - Listening

In this sermon, Rev. Chris Vogel looks at John 7:40-52 where we conclude Jesus’ time during the Feast of Booths as the people question His credentials. His status as a prophet or the Messiah continue to confuse the leaders, even as Nicodemus, who earlier met Jesus at night (John 3) opens the door to giving Jesus a hearing.
