The Resurrection and Working Hard | 1 Corinthians 15:1-10
We welcome our new Interim Pastor, Jamie MacGregor to Cornerstone. It's Labor Day weekend and in some ways this holiday reminds of heaven -- when we have a final rest from all our earthly labor. What are we to do, though, until that final day? 1 Corinthians 15 says we are to labor with all of God's strength until that day arrives.

Haggai asks the people of good some pretty hard questions in this section. Does our sin have an effect on the good things we do? What effect does our sin have on our holy acts? What effect does our holy acts have on our evil ones? We are to be holy, yes, but thankfully we serve a God who sent his Son, Jesus, to earth that our holiness would not be dependent upon our actions but His perfect life given to us.

The Greater Glory of Peace, Haggai 2:1-9
In this message, we continue the sermon series in the book of Haggai. This week in Haggai 2:1-9 we see that there are still some discouragements and fears in the people, but God reminds them of his promises and extends an even bigger promise that peace will come from the house of the Lord. The promises of the Lord fuel the work of the people to the glory of God and for the good of the people!

Covenant Renewal | Haggai 1:1-15
We start a new sermon series in the book of Haggai that will take us through the month of August. Haggai is a contemporary of Ezra in the post exile season of God’s people. His call is for covenant renewal, faithfulness, and restoration beginning with and being exemplified in the rebuilding of the temple. We too need to hear the message of this small yet significant book as we wrestle with our priorities, our worship, and our covenant faithfulness. We’ll be looking at Haggai 1:1-15 this morning.

Today in Worship – This morning we finish our five-week series with the ruling elders preaching. The Gospel according to Matthew speaks often of the Kingdom of Heaven especially in Chapters 13 with a number of parables. This morning we look at two of those parables, the Parable of the Hidden Treasure and the Parable of the Pearl of Great Value. What is our ultimate treasure and value? What gives our life meaning? What grid do we have to make life’s hard decision? Steve Iler will be preaching and developing these themes this morning on Matthew 13:44-46.

In the Company of Thieves, Luke 23:32-43
In this message, we continue our five week series with the ruling elders preaching. If there was ever a passage that shows God’s gracious hand in saving us not because of our own good works, but through His grace and the work of Christ, it is the story of the thief on the cross. Come and hear the amazing story of one of the last people Christ speaks to before His death. Ruling elder Greg Brinkmann will tell God’s word as we look at that story from Luke 23: 32–43.

Household Matters | Colossians 3:18 - 4:1
We continue in the Colossians series looking at 3:18-4:1. The call to mortify the flesh and put on the holy clothes of the Gospel has deep ramifications for every sphere of life we live in. There are ramifications in our marital relationships, family/parenting dynamics, and work/vocation arenas. We see in this couple of verses the outflow of v17 of chapter 3, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Let’s apply these truths to our everyday living.
