The Coming of the King John 12:1-19

Today in Worship – This morning we have the privilege to have Jay Nelson preaching.  Jay is a Ruling Elder at Cornerstone and has been a pastor previously.  Jay will be opening John 12:1-19 this morning.  We celebrate the Triumphal Entry that Jesus made into Jerusalem, only days before His death on the cross. His coming was misunderstood by those who witnessed it on that day, and it is still misunderstood by many in our day.

Foundations Part 2 Colossians 1:18-23

This morning, we continue our series in Colossians looking at Colossians 1:18-23.  Paul continues to address the heretical teaching that is being taught by the false teachers in Colossae.  Jesus is God, Creator and Sustainer (1:15-17) but sometimes, and maybe often, this world and our lives seem unhinged. Jesus is the Head of the Church and his mission is to reconcile all things, things of creation and most significantly human beings, like Paul, the Colossians, and each of us.  The promise of all things will be made new is great hope for the Christian to cling to in this world.

Foundations Part 1, Colossians 1:15-17

In this message, we continue our series in Colossians looking at Colossians 1:15-17. Paul now begins to address the heretical teaching that is being taught by the false teachers in Colossae. All truths and all false teachings have a starting point. We need to get Jesus right in our theology or all that follows will be off. So Paul returns to foundational teaching that Jesus is God, Jesus is Creator, and Jesus is Sustainer. If we get any one of these 3 wrong the wheels fall off our theology.

In Jesus Name - Colossians 1:9-14

We continue our new series in Colossians looking at Colossians 1:9-14.  Having heard of Pauls love for the Colossians and thanksgiving to God for them, we now see that he is driven to regular prayer for them.  Pauls three-fold prayer highlights areas we can be praying for one another in addition to regular needs.  Paul prays that the Colossians would be filled with understanding so as to walk fully, pleasing by being strengthened to joy.  Always resting in the reality that our identity is that of qualified ones, those fully fit, complete through the work of Christ.

The Gospel: Grace & Peace Colossians 1:1-8

Today in Worship – This morning we start a new series looking at Paul’s letter to the Colossians.  The whole service will be designed in a way to give us an overview of the book.  Paul begins his letter with thankfulness for the church because of their clinging to the Gospel, their hope.  The gospel then is bearing much fruit and increasing among them and the whole world. Paul’s love for this church he never visited, is seen by his desire that they grasp the fullness of the gospel and are not swayed by false teaching.  We are challenged this morning to cling to the gospel as it bears fruit.

Farewell Message Pt 2, Acts 20:17-38

In this message, Chris concludes his tenure at Cornerstone examining Acts 20:17-38, where Paul bids farewell to the elders at Ephesus, restating his role as the pastor and their responsibilities as elders. The encouragement to guard the flock and guarding their own hearts is a truth all believers need to hear.

Farewell Message Part 1 Acts 20:17-38

In this message, We turn to Acts 20:17-38 for the next two weeks as Pastor Vogel concludes his time at Cornerstone. In this passage the Apostle Paul bids farewell to the elders at Ephesus. Paul begins by reminding them of his word and deed among them as their pastor. He served with humility and taught all peoples, in all places…the central truth of the Gospel: repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Next week Chris will conclude this passage with Paul’s warnings to the Ephesian elders.

Here we see the extravagance of God’s grace, as well as the Father’s commitment to calling us to labor for Him. Sustaining Strength Acts 9:20-31

  Today, we continue in the series of Acts as we look at Acts 9:20-31.  After God's pursuit of the most dreaded persecutor of the Christian faith—resulting in the conversion of Saul of Tarsus—we are left wondering what is next? How will this persecutor turned preacher be received among the Christians and used to build God's Kingdom? What does this mean for us? We see in this account that God not only pursues people but strengthens them for his service. Through this passage we will explore the ways in which we too can be strengthened as we live out the Gospel in our own day.

Captured and Captivated Acts 9:1-19

Today in Worship – we continue in the series of Acts as we look at Acts 9:1-19.  This morning we will see, through the conversion of Saul, that God pursues his people, even rescuing his enemies.  God pursues his people, even reconciling those that are at odds with each other.  God pursues his people, even restores his vessels for usefulness in his great commission.  As the message of the Gospel of Jesus has begun reaching more and more of the scattered Hellenists (Greek-speaking Jews) Paul’s conversion marks a new witness, a new missionary, and a reminder that God’s Church will be built and no man, idea, or enemy can thwart that mission of love.

The End is Only the Beginning| Acts 8:26-40

 In this message, we continue in the series of Acts as we welcome Rev. Chad Baudhuin who is the planting pastor of All Saints Church (PCA) in Green Bay, WI. We will be looking at Acts 8:26-40 as we see the Gospel extending out to further and further. We see one man, Philip, connecting with one man, an Ethiopian, who is being confronted with the reality of Jesus and his finished work on the cross. The Scriptures have been unfolding this from the very beginning and Philip tells of this good news to this man.

The Gospel vs Magic - Acts 8:9-25

We return to Luke’s Act of the Apostles. Following the stoning of Stephen and the persecution of the church at the hands of Saul, the church expands outside of traditional Jewish boundaries into Samaria. In Acts 8:9-22 Peter confronts Simon, who although he believes, wishes to obtain the power he sees in the Apostles. In this passage we see the conflict and difference between the gospel and magic.
