Ezra 6:16-22 Captivated by Joy
In this message, in Ezra 5-6 the Temple is now complete, despite objections by other peoples in the land. Following its dedication, Passover is finally celebrated in the completed Temple. In Ezra 6:19-22 Israel once again looks back to the great event in their history, the Exodus from Egypt. As their ancestors in the past, they replay the passing over by the angel of death, as they eat the sacrificial lamb. What was a somber event, gives way to joy and celebration for God’s gracious freedom.
